The Dance Place is thrilled to welcome Carmen Boyce to our exceptional roster of teachers. Carmen, a most personable teacher, is a recent Triple Threat Graduate of the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts.
Originally from Campbell River, British Columbia, she started performing as a very young child in competitive gymnastics. After becoming Western Canada Champion on the balance beam at the tender age of 12, she decided to extend her love of physical activity with Dance. Carmen started her Dance career in Jazz, but soon realized that she wanted to try more, eventually adding Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Modern, Musical Theatre and Tap. She is extremely excited to begin working with these young performers, sharing with them the love for Dance that she so strongly has.

PRESS RELEASE for immediate publication

Why Tumbling?

The Dance Place is pleased to announce a new Tumbling program by award-winning gymnast ‘Carmen Boyce’

Today’s dancers are required to extend the use of their bodies increasing their range of movement, especially in Jazz, Acrobatic and Hip Hop dancing. Developing tumbling skills is essential for all dance students working at or above the Elementary 2 level. Tumbling is recommended as an enrichment, not a replacement for dance training. Ideal for those students seeking improvement in learning and incorporating gymnastic tricks, such as aerials, forward, backward hand springs and flips, into their dancing.

CANDACE BEDFORD

We are pleased to have Candace Bedford return to the teaching faculty of The Dance Place for a second year. An excellent teacher, Candace continues to share her passion for dance with all students who are interested in Modern Contemporary Dance.

Candace is an entusiastic teacher with positive leadership skills. She is presently attending York University Faculty of Fine Arts and is entering her fourth year as a dance major.
Candace is dedicated and caring to her students and is looking forward to continue teaching at The Dance Place and being able to help the school in reinstating Modern Dance into its curiculum. In Modern Dance Candace specializes in the Limon technique, a system established by one of the great pioneers of Modern Dance, Jose Limon.
