Hip Hop has always and firstly indentified itself as a unique culture. Having its roots in agressive street Jazz, Reggae, Rock & Roll, Blues and Rap; Hip Hop is a form of Street Dance, and borrows its concepts from contrived, agressive free and stylized Rhythmical Dance. Two of the more distinct dancing styles associated with Hip Hop is Break Dancing and Pop & Lock. At the DANCE PLACE we recommend that children under the age of ten years, with little or no dance training begin their venture into Hip Hop dance with a Creative and/or Jazz foundation. Anyone practicing Hip Hop should also be involved in some other form of dance such as jazz, acro or ballet, to maintain strength and flexibility.
