Toronto’s Dance Machine Dance Competition Program TDM competes in local, regional and national competitions. Acceptance into the competition program is by invitation or audition only, and requires a commitment to a specific training regime. In addition to entering a maximum of 4 competitions, dancers may be requested perform at special events and in the end-of-season School showcase. All competition dancers are urged to keep their training up during the summer. This can be done in various ways: 1. Dancers ages 14 years and under may attend the annual performing arts and dance camp. 2. All dancers may attend special summer evening classes. 3. Attend the special pre-season intensive workshop where the final selection of dancers for competition will be made. The fact that a dancer has been in competition the previous season is no criteria for acceptance for the new competition season. Basic fees cover choreography, rehearsals, teacher’s work time and back up administration. There are additional fees for costumes, competition entry fees and team uniforms. A complete fee package is quoted for the individual dancer, since each competitors program will vary. Parents of competition dancers are requested to be supportive and fully participate in any fund raising projects selected by the parent’s volunteer committee. Maximum number of competitions the school will enter is 4 per year. Outstanding achievers at competition have the option of attending National and International finals. Fundraising: Parents & dancers of the competition program are requested to actively support special performing opportunities & fund raising projects, such as seeking sponsors and participating in special events. Parent volunteers are required to sponsor or seek sponsors and assist in co-ordinating any projects such as the preview showcase. It is important to note that competitions take place on weekends, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. |
