About Us
THE DANCE PLACE, Two Locations: ETOBICOKE & NORTH YORK

We, at The Dance Place are dedicated to giving everyone 3 years and up, the opportunity of experiencing the art and joy of dancing. All classes are given by a caring faculty of CERTIFIED professionals. The teachers are closely associated nationally and internationally with such outstanding institutions as The National Ballet School, Ryerson University Dance Studies Faculty, York University Fine Arts, and the Randolph School for Performing Arts.

Our faculty members are examined and acredited by such organizations as the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, the Cecchetti Society of Canada, Dance Masters of America and the British Association of Teachers of Dance, all of which ensure quality training in the many styles and forms of Dance offered.
The study of dance involves physical, mental and self-discipline. It is therefore of utmost importance for the parents of young people interested in exploring dance, to search for teachers that have trained and are fully qualified. All qualified teachers hold credentials that confirm they have the sufficient knowledge of anatomy and music to ensure correct and safe instruction. Whether or not a student dancer aspires to be professional or is dancing for pleasure, they are entitled to the best professional instruction.

Mission Statement
At The Dance Place with studios in North York and Etobicoke, our principal goal is to help each student reach their maximum potential. Instilling self-confidence, self esteem, and a respectful appreciation for the fine art of dance.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
(A) To develop a respectful appreciation and understanding of the fine art of dance as a cultural enrichment as well as the interaction and support of all the fine arts. To inspire the determination and dedication required to master this most glorious and illusive of all the fine arts.
(B) To challenge the developing artist to be articulate in using the art of dance as an extension of their personal expression.

The City of Toronto and the greater Toronto area is a major international centre for the visual and performing arts, and as such, the Dance Place plays an important role as a center of learning and cultural enrichment.

PHILOSOPHY
It is expected that not everyone will be a great dancer, and that dancing, of course, will be experienced as a complete art form, more by some than by others. Nevertheless, as every child has a right to a box of crayons and some instruction in the fundamental principals of drawing, and in the use of colour, whether or not there is any chance of them becoming a professional artist, so every child has a right to know how to achieve control of their body, so that they may use it to the limit of their ability, for expression and their own reaction to life. Even if they can never carry their efforts far enough to realize dance in its highest forms, they may experience the sheer joy of the rhythmic sense of free, controlled and expressive movement, and through this know an addition to life, to which every human being is entitled. If the interest in giving instruction in dance is to produce dancers only, dance as a creative and pleasurable art experience, possible to all, is doomed.

Not every child will come to know the thunder of applause, or the thrill of a curtain call on the stage, but through the discipline of dance, will aquire charm, poise, and grace to last a lifetime.

The Dance Place is open to everyone regardless of race, colour or creed.
